Creating Tasks using Planner in Teams
Creating Tasks using Planner in Teams
Microsoft Teams has an integration with many applications. One of them is Microsoft's
Tasks by Planner and To Do
that allows the creation of tasks which can be assigned to people within a Team. **NOTE** This can be done at a Team level or a channel level but not within a private channel.
Login to Teams using the application or on the web at teams.microsoft.com
Select the Teams icon on the left bar
Select the Channel you want to work with to create tasks
Click the plus in the top right region
A selection of Application add-ons will appear
Select Tasks by Planner and To Do
It is recommended to leave the Tab Name of Tasks for consistency and leave the Post to the channel if you want the channel to get an update. Click Save to create a new plan.
You will be placed on the Tasks page, defaulting to a Board view, to add a task, click the Add Task button
Enter the name of the task, select a due date if desired and then click the Assign icon
You can only assign the task to someone within the Team. Then click the Add Task button
The person assigned the task will receive a notification in Teams and an email. Each will contain a link to the task for the assigned member to update.
There is the ability to show tasks as a list, a Board, a Chart or on a Schedule (Calendar based on due dates)
