Reset Printers on an Apple Computer

To reset your printers on a Mac follow these steps. These steps can be applied to all versions of MacOS 10.13 or higher:

  1. Open the "System Preferences" application on your Mac.

  1. Click on the "Printers & Scanners" icon.

  1. Control-click on the printer and select "Reset printing system" from the drop-down menu.

  1. Confirm that you want to reset the printing system by typing in your local user name and password in the pop-up window that appears. THIS IS NOT YOUR WARTBURG LOGIN AND PASSWORD UNLESS YOU HAVE SET IT THE SAME

  1. Click Reset to clear all the Print Settings on your Mac.

  1. After the print settings have been cleared, you will now then need to add the printer back again. Once again go back to the Printers & Scanners window that you went to in Step 2 above.

  1. Click the Add Printer Button

  1. Select the Print you need to read. Printers are named based on building and room location.

  1. At the bottom of the window click the Choose a Driver drop down and click Select software

  1. The windows that appears will allow you to select the correct driver to install for the printer. Type 4071 in the filer bar at the top of the window. Select the SHARP MX-471 PPD and click OK. You should now be able to print. If you cannot find the correct driver click here to download the driver and continue onto step 11.

  1. If the driver does not show up follow these steps to install the driver.

  1. Then click Mac PS Driver

  1. Once the next page loads, scroll down and click the black Download button.

  1. Open the file up and install the program. Once the program is installed go back to step 6 and complete the steps to add a printer.
