Wartburg Account Activation Tasks

Task 1 – Activate Your Account First go to http://info.wartburg.edu/, then click on the Activate New Account link in the upper righthand corner. You will need your Wartburg ID# to complete this process. This will generate a document that contains important information, including your username and password for your email account. Make sure you save your username and password.

Task 2 – Log into Wartburg’s Microsoft Portal Here you will configure the authentication information needed if you forget your password sometime in the future and would like to reset it. You can also, optionally, change your password here as well. The password that you were given when activating your account is computer generated for security purposes making it difficult to remember.  

  • Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com and log in with the user name (including the “@wartburg.edu” extension) and password retrieved in Task 1. Login Screen #1 Login Screen #2 Click the “Next” Button
  • Set up AT LEAST 2 of the options below to be able to reset your password Authentication Phone: Follow Instructions given in the Verification Text OR Phone Call. Authentication Email: Enter the Verification Code set in the email back in the Verification Textbox and click the “verify” button. Select and answer 3 of the 9 security question options and click the “save answers” button
  • Click the “finish” button when you are finished configuring your account recovery information. 
  • Click the “X” in the upper right corner of the popup window.

Task 3 – Change Your Password (Optional) You are now on your home page of Wartburg’s Microsoft Portal. Here you can change your password to something easier to remember.

  • Click on the Settings button on the right side of the menu bar.
  • Click on the Password link in the middle of the settings menu.
  • Enter your current password in the “Old password” textbox.
  • Enter your new password (exactly the same) in the Create and Confirm password textboxes.
  • Click the “submit” button

Task 4 – Reset Your Password (Optional) You are finished setting up your account now. If you forget your password, you may either call the ITS Help Desk during normal business hours or reset it yourself. Here are the instructions to reset your own password.

  • Go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
  • Enter your User ID in the first text box.
  • Enter the Captcha characters in the second text box
  • Click the “Next” button
  • Select the method that you want to receive your verification code (e.g. Click the Email button to receive the verification code in an Email).
  • Enter the verification code received in the textbox and click the “Next” button.
  • Repeat these steps for the other verification method(s)
  • Enter your new password in the first textbox and repeat it in the second confirmation textbox.
  • Click the “Finish” button to reset your password.
