How to - Finding an IP Address

Body

Wartburg College's network is protected with Network Access Controls. In order for your devices to be able to access network resources or the internet, they need to be registered. For instructions on how to register your devices, look for the article titled "Start Here - Connect to the Network" under Related Articles.

An IP address is a unique identifier for a network device. If you are experiencing problems registering your device, a Techline support representative may request this number, which is in the format of 4 numbers separated by periods (eg. XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX, or 10.60.1.98). You can either bring the device to the help desk in CTC 100, or follow the instructions below to locate the local IP address:

  1. Open the command prompt by searching Command Prompt in the Start Menu search or taskbar.
