Remoting into your Campus Computer from Off-Campus
-Settings needed to be set on your Campus Computer
-You will need to have your work computer’s name before going home to set this up. To find your
computer’s name, go to File Explorer and right-click on “This PC” and click on “Properties”
-Your Computer Name will be listed in this Properties window.
-Also, on this “Properties” page, make sure your campus computer is allowing Remote Desktop. To check this, click on “Remote settings”
-Make sure the “Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended)” is checked.
-Your campus computer needs to stay powered on if you are going to be remoting into it from home. You will also want to make sure the Power Options are set to “Never”. To do this, type “Edit Power
Plan” in your Search window next to your Start button. Set both the “Turn off the display:” and “Put the computer to sleep:” to “Never”
-Settings needed to be set on your Home Computer
